Bad Blogger

Sorry, I haven't posted in sooo long... life has been busy and I haven't had much time for the computer!

Asher is getting big and smiling lots! He went for his first round of shots on Thursday and didn't much appreciate getting stuck 3 times! But he settled down pretty quickly and had a cuddle with mom!

Yesterday (Saturday) was our first time away from the little man. Grumpy and Grandma M came and watched Asher for a few hours, while Mommy and Daddy went to a funeral. Not exactly a fun outing, but hopefully we will be able to do it again for something fun.

Right now we are working on getting little A to fall asleep in either his bassinet or Crib with out falling asleep in our arms first... just now Gord was holding him, he would fall asleep, Gord put him down and he would cry... this isn't what normally happens but I want to make sure he knows that he wont get picked up right away if he does that. So I told Gord to walk away. I rocked his bassinet a bit, turned on his seahorse and after a bit of protesting... he is asleep! Sometimes he just likes to cuddle... but I want to make sure he doesn't get in the habit of only wanting to sleep in our arms!

Well... that's all for now... hopefully I will get back and post some more this week, but for now here are some pictures!

Road Trip!

This last Sunday we headed up to Parksville for a visit with Uncle Glen, Aunty Tricia and Cousin Kiana at their family cabin in Qualicum Bay and to see the sand castles!

Baboo (this is my nickname for Asher) did pretty darn good on the trip up. We stopped once in Duncan so he could eat and had smooth sailing for the rest of the trip!
We met Aunty and Uncle in Parksville and walked down to the Sand Castles. I haven't been to see the Sand Castles since I was a little girl, in fact the only reason I remember it is because there is a picture of my dad and I standing by one... and for some reason, for years I thought he and I built it ourselves!

After that we drove to Tricia's family Cabin and had lunch at the local diner! The cabin is on a huge property with lots of trails, so after lunch we all went for a walk. I put Baboo in the sling, and Uncle Glen had Kiana in her carrier. After we had walked a little ways we heard something in the bushes which sounded like it was running/bounding at us! We all turned around on the spot and started walking briskly back towards the cabin!

On the ride home, Asher slept most of the way, again we stopped in Duncan for his dinner and while we were there we checked out the Superstore and picked up a few outfits for the little guy! We are frequent superstore shoppers, since it is the grocery store closest to our place, they have such good prices and cute baby clothes! Therefore walking into the Duncan Superstore was like a flash back to what our Superstore used to look like. The layout was the same as ours used to be a few years ago, they had no self checkout, and they still had plastic bags! It was pretty funny...to us anyways!

We stopped and Grandma and Grandpa P's on the way home since they were Abbisitting for the day and found out that Abbi had been whining for us all day, which is strange because normally she LOVES her Grandma and Grandpa's place... my guess is that she just wanted to come to the beach with us!!!

Here are a few pics of the sand castles:

Weekend Fun!

This weekend was busy busy busy!

On Saturday we had some running around to do in the morning, including buying MORE diapers. And that night Daddy was supposed to race, except his car had an oil pump issue so he wasn't able to go out.

On Sunday we had Rob and Ali's wedding ceremony to attend at 12, then we had to jet out to mechosin for a family reunion with my Grumpy's side of the family at 2pm, and back for the Reception at 4pm! It was a busy day, but it was so nice to see everyone!

Monday was a bit more relaxed, Steve, Cathy and Cayla came over to meet Asher in the morning, and then in the afternoon we took Asher around in the stroller got some groceries etc. When we got home, Asher had some tummy time... and I couldn't believe it but the little man rolled from him tummy to his back... I didn't think he would be able to do that for quite some time, and of course that was the time I wasn't video taping him...! I can't wait to try it again this afternoon! Then we made a nice chicken dinner with scalloped potatoes and guess what people.... Asher slept through the whole dinner, and we both got to sit down at the table and eat the whole meal while it was hot! Can you believe it!
Then yesterday Krysta came and took some newborn pictures of Asher, can't wait to see them!

Here is a pic of Grumpy and Asher at the family Reunion:

Shartin in the Tub!

Last night Gord and I gave Asher a bath. This time he wasn't exactly loving his bath like he normally does and was squeaking through the whole thing.

We were just finishing up, Gord went to grab the towel to wrap him up in it, since that always calms him right down, and I was lifting him out of the tub. Out of nowhere I heard him (Asher not Gord) Fart... Or rather Shart...

I think I felt it... before I heard it because he was squeaking away due to his dislike of the bath.

I quickly put his bum back into the water to rinse it off, and we wrapped him up in his cute hooded towel.

He was just starting to calm down and I was walking into the bedroom to dry him off when I heard it again...

This time is was louder and there was a lot more force behind it.

I looked down at the carpet to make sure it wasn't leaking through the towel and onto our new carpet, since it sounded pretty wet. Then I went back into the bathroom where Gord was to see how bad the damage was. Gord took one look and almost peed himself he was laughing so hard. Asher had Sharted right through the towel and it was not a small one either...

Gord and I were laughing so uncontrollably we couldn't figure out what to do. We needed the towel to dry him off and the other two hooded towels Asher has were in the wash.

We ended up cleaning his bum, and drying him off with the clean parts of the towel.

I'm not sure that towel will ever be the same. But at least it was yellow to match his mustard coloured poops!

Mommy and Asher Day

Today is Daddys first day back to work... so its just a Mommy and Asher day.

Sorry for the bad punctuation, for what ever reason when I go to make a question mark I get this: É and when I hit the comma key I get this: è. Does anyone know what is going on with our key board...

Asher slept very well last night, and Daddy was able to get lots of sleep! He slept for 3.5 hours, work up to eat and be changed, then another 2 hours and again another 2 hours...

He had some tummy time this morning and was awake for almost an hour before he was hungry and then wanted to go back to sleep again... and now he is still napping! He should be up soon and will likely be hungry!

He is a pretty darn good kid, considering everything he put mommy through before he arrived. I guess he is making up for it!

This afternoon the public health nurse is stopping by for a visit and then Great Aunty Char, Aunty B, and Colton will be coming by for a visit later too! Asher loves visitors!

Visiting

Gord, Asher and I would like to apologize for the low productivity day in Government offices around Victoria today, Asher went visiting!

First we went to my work, where Asher was given a few gifts, including the cutest hooded towel that is in the wash right now so he can use it for his bath tonight, and a card that is filled with well wishes. What a great group of people I work with!!! Thanks everyone!
Then we walked down to my old work to visit Ronnie, Cindy, Liana, Dana and others! We took a picture of Cindy holding him since Sharon was away today and Cindy wanted to one up her LOL

After that we went to Grandma P's work for a visit too!

Over the weekend we also did lots of visiting. On Saturday night we went up to visit Grumpy M and Grandma M. Asher sure loves his Grumpy, he cuddled with him for hours, and mommy got a nice long break!

Then on Sunday Kris and Liana came over and so did Aunty Gerry and Uncle Jack!!! Aunty Gerry bought Asher the Diaper Genie, and she brought it all the way from Vancouver on the back of her motorcycle!!

Then once everyone left, it was time for Asher's first bath at home!

And since every ones fav thing about the little guy seems to be his hair, we took a picture of it right after his bath.

Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa P's for a visit. Asher got to meet Deb, Harold, Dia, Tim and Cheryl. Aunty and Uncle were also there with Cousin Kiana. Here is Uncle Glen with the cousins:

And lastly this morning we went to visit the doctor for his 1 week (6 day) check up. Asher has grown 1/2 inch since he was born and gained 1.5 oz. So he now weighs in at 6.25 pounds!

We put the finishing touches on Tubbins room this weekend and I think we are finally done!
Here are a few pictures of the process and the finished product. Gord, Grandpa P and I put together the Crib and Dresser, but unfortunately I don't have any pictures of that "Fun" day!

What a night...

I am so glad I have a blog to document everything our child has put us through already... it will come in real handy in a few years time when he or she is a teen and making claims about us never doing any thing for him or her.... What a wise mommy I already am!!! hehe

Here is the update:

Yesterday I went and hung out with my momma and daddy for the day. My grandma and grandpa were there visiting too... I decided that since I wasn't having too many contractions I needed to go for a good walk! I dragged my momma and grandma down past the mailboxes (if you live in the highlands or know where my parents live you will know where I am talking about) to where the new houses are! NOTHING! Just when we get to the bottom of the driveway, wham... I finally got one... OK! So I decide to walk up and down the front and back driveways! I had a few medium contractions but nothing earth shattering. So I decide to pack it in and go have some home made soup for lunch! Which was sooo yummy by the way!!

Later that afternoon, Momma and I weeded my backyard. Something I have been wanting to do for weeks now! It looks so great!! The weeding brought on a few contractions but again nothing earth shattering. I decided to give my body a break and have a shower and then relax and finish my book, another thing I wanted to do before baby was here (the book, not the shower).

Gord called and said that the Jeep, my wonderful, best vehicle ever Jeep, was having a trans issue and he needed to take a look at it so he was stopping at his parents place on the way home... and would be late. Since he was at his parents place, and they had not had dinner yet either, we decided to go for dinner with them afterwards. Then we hit up Toys R Us to get baby's swing (maybe this was what Tubbins was waiting for) but they didn't have the one we registered for... so we went to Sears and found an equally nice one... however according to Gord it was unsatisfactory because it didn't have little "Dougys" on the mobile. ("Dougy" is in reference to Doug who Gord works with and they like to call a monkey... don't ask).

Anyways... on the way home I started to have a few contractions!! Yeah!

We set up the swing and I baked some cookies... more contractions... stronger... Double Yeah!

We got ready for bed and the contractions got stronger... so I stayed up a bit longer to see what they would do... I wouldn't go to bed.. because every time I seem to go to sleep they stop all together and I wasn't having that happen again!

By 1am they were officially the strongest contractions I had felt! Triple Yeah! I wasn't sure if I was ready to go to the hospital yet or not... my contractions seem to be scared of hospitals/Doctors so I wanted to make sure they were here to stay before I left. Gord told me to at least call the on-all doctor to let her know what was going on, so that's what I did. She said I could go in or I could stay home a bit longer as it would be more comfortable. I decided to stay home for a while longer until they got a bit more intense.

No more then 30 minutes later the contractions started to space out and weaken... I was in denial... so I kept walking... by 2:30am... I gave up and went to bed...

So here I sit this morning babyless and contractionless.... the Joys....

I know it's all worth it in the end... but I just can't wait to meet our little Tubbins!!!
Plus June 26th sounds like a great birth date for our little Tubbins...

Just can't wait!

We must have an impatient baby... because this little guy or gal has decided it wants out!

On Friday afternoon, I started having more frequent and very strong braxton hicks contractions. By about 6:30pm I was having real contractions, but I wasn't sure that is what they were. We went out for dinner and they were getting worse. Then we decided to rent a movie and head home to relax a bit, but when I got home (TMI WARNING) I lost my mucus plug. Gord figured that it would be best to call the BC nurses hot line to see if they though I was actually in early labour or not. I called and told the nurse what had happened, she talked to me for about a half hour and determined that I was in fact in early labour! WOW!

I went to bed around 11:30 that night and woke up with no more contractions the next morning. I had a few mild contractions through out the day but nothing like the night before!

On Sunday we had our dad's over for a fathers day breakfast, and I had a few contractions while everyone was here. We decided to set up the bassinet that afternoon and at about 3pm the contractions were getting stronger. I decided that since I was not 37 weeks yet, I should probably call the doctor on call and let them know what was happening.

Turns out it was my doctor on call that day, she decided that I should head into labour and delivery so they could check me and put an IV in to make sure I wasn't dehydrated, which can cause contractions. We got to the hospital at 3:45, and I was strapped up to a fetal monitor. The fetal monitor was kind of neat because it showed baby's activity and my contractions on a graph that was printed out so we could see what my contractions looked like. I was checked at 5pm and I was 1.5-2 cm dilated and 85-90% effaced. After I was checked my contractions got a lot stronger and closer together. I was checked again at 9:15pm and was 2-3 cm dilated and 100% effaced! They decided that since I wasn't progressing too rapidly they could send me home! Yeah!!

Yesterday (Monday) I went into work for an hour to finish up a few last minute things, I had some mild contractions through out the day but nothing major!

Today so far I have had a few pretty good contractions but it's only 9:45am so time will tell!

Tubbins

When my belly started to grow Gord would jokingly and lovingly call me tubby! He and his brother called Tricia “Fat” or “Prego” through most of her pregnancy so I figured I was getting off easy with tubby!

One night Gord called the baby Tubbins because it was what was causing me to be so “Tubby”. It stuck, and now we all call the baby Tubbins! Hopefully when baby is older he or she isn’t emotionally scarred from being called Tubbins for 9 months of his or her life!

The Last 36 weeks

Our Adventure started about 36 weeks ago in Vegas! But we didn’t know about it until November 23rd!

On Friday (Nov 21) we had gone out for dinner to white spot, Gord ordered a burger and Yam Fries and I ordered the Pad Thai. As soon as my dish arrived the smell overtook me, there was no way I was going to be able to eat it! The only way I can describe the stench was that it smelled like a wet horse! I did choke back a few bites and it actually didn’t taste half as bad as it smelled. But I ended up picking off Gord’s plate anyways!

On Saturday, while at coffee with my friend and SIL Tricia, I told her about the Pad Thai incident. She was the only person who knew that Gord and I were trying and therefore got the privilege of listening to my endless symptoms. She convinced me to take a Pregnancy test, so I decided to test the next morning as soon as I woke up.

On Sunday Morning (Nov 23) Gord was out of the house, working on the Christmas Display at his parents house, while I was at home peeing on a stick! A magnificent stick that almost immediately revealed two lines!!! It was one of the happiest moments in my life! Only trouble was, Gord would be working on the Christmas display all day and I didn’t want to tell him over the phone… so I had to wait until he got home. Talk about torture.

When he did get home I had filled out the “Waiting for me” portion of the baby book with our expected due date and a note to “Daddy”, with the test. I let him find it himself when he walked in the house and all he said was “Honey, do you have something to tell me?”
