Long time no Blog!

I got a nudge today to put up some new pictures... I admit I haven't posted for well 5 or 6 months... but life is busy, really busy and that's all the excuse I have!

Anyways... we are all doing well! Asher is walking and talking like crazy! Christmas is coming and he seems excited! When we ask him what Santa says he says: Ho Ho Hoooo! And when he sees a picture of Santa he says: Danta!

He has more words then we can count and even says: " I OK" when he takes a tumble.

He seems to be at a very fun stage right now and we are loving every minute of it!

Here are a few pictures from the last couple months:

Those darn Teeth!

As you might remember, Asher was born with two teeth. We had been told that either these were his baby teeth or just a calcium deposit that would likely disintegrate and he would get his baby teeth in. At about 2 months old the teeth started to fall apart. We were sure if these were his actual teeth or something else. Over time the teeth broke down until we could only see a little bit of them on the surface. But periodically they would bleed and we felt that they caused him some pain. We took him to the dentist at about the time that he should have been getting his teeth in, they took a look and said that his baby teeth should push through soon. So we waited.

After a few more months and no teeth coming in we went back. We were referred to a Pediatric Dentist and had to wait about 3 months before we could get in to see him. In that time Asher's Top four teeth came in, as did his other bottom two. But not the bottom baby teeth to replace the ones he was born with.

A couple months ago Gord and I took him to the Pediatric Dentist to have them looked at in hopes that they could tell us what was going on with them. They took an X-ray and found that those were indeed Asher's baby teeth and he wouldn't get any other teeth until his Adult teeth came in.

The Dentist said that we would have to get his teeth extracted in order to prevent infection later on. We had the choice of doing it in office or at the hospital. We chose to do it at the hospital because we didn't like the idea of having to hold him down for the procedure in office, as he would only be on vallum.

Yesterday was his surgery.

We got there at 7am, and after a few tests, a video, and Gord getting into a Dr. outfit we were on our way to the OR.

Gord went in with him to the Operating Room and stayed with him until he was asleep. The surgery itself only took 5 minutes but the whole this took about a half hour and he was back with us within an hour. We stayed at the hospital for a few hours and they we were able to come home.

The whole experience was actually pretty good, Asher was such a trooper and hardly ever complained about anything. In fact I don't think he cried at all the whole time.

This morning he seems to be back to normal and is pretty happy and has a good appetite although he is restricted to baby food, soy yogurt and soy pudding for the most part!

I'm back!

It has been a busy few months since I last posted! We moved into the house, I went back to work and we have been settling in, building a fence etc.

Work has been good, initially I went back to the Ministry that I started in, since my TA was cut while I was on Mat Leave due to all the budget cuts over the last year or so. But shortly after my return, my office at AG called and asked if I would like to come back! I said YES, YES, YES! So for the last month and a half I have been back in the position I was in before I went on Mat leave and I'm so happy to be there!

The transition back to work has actually been quite good! As much as I miss spending so much time with Asher and watching him explore the world each day, I really like the 'Adult time' that comes with being back to work. I have also been catching the bus so I even have a little bit of Me time, where I get to read and listen to music! So it's actually working out quite well!

Gord has been the one who takes Asher to daycare in the morning, and they are doing quite well at it! Lucky him, gets a few more zzz's then I do since Asher quite often sleeps until 8am and some days Gord even has to wake him up to leave!

I think we are almost settled into the house, all our furniture that we bought while living at Gord's parents is here and I think we have found a place for everything now! There are just a few little things that need to be done but other then that I'm starting to feel like it's home now!

This weekend, Gord and his dad started working on the fence, they drilled the holes in the rock wall for the brackets and cemented the brackets into place! Asher played outside in his "muddy buddy" which is a suit that goes over his clothes that is water proof! It's yellow and blue! I wish I had a picture of him to post because it was so darn cute, but I couldn't find the camera at the time!

I have lots of pictures to share of the last 2 months so I will have to post again soon!!!

Asher's Tricks

In the last few weeks, Asher has aquired a few very cute tricks!

The first was waving, then clapping, "Baby dance" was next and now he is drinking from a straw!

I hate to brag but I just googled "when does a child learn to drink from a straw" and it said they wont learn that until at least 13 months and it can take some as long as 24 months to figure it out! So I'm a pretty proud mommy!

I guess he just really wanted some of my Orange Julius on Saturday because when I offered him the straw, I figured he would probably just chew on it and drool in my drink, but when I gave it to him, some of the drink came the straw! Since then I have been offering him water from a cup with a straw and he has been drinking that way! It's very cute!
