A room for Tubbins

We put the finishing touches on Tubbins room this weekend and I think we are finally done!
Here are a few pictures of the process and the finished product. Gord, Grandpa P and I put together the Crib and Dresser, but unfortunately I don't have any pictures of that "Fun" day!

Baby Tubbins in 3D

Since we basically had a repeat performance last night of the night before we have no new news on the labour/delivery front, so I thought I would share some 3D pictures of baby Tubbins taken when I was 28 weeks!

What a night...

I am so glad I have a blog to document everything our child has put us through already... it will come in real handy in a few years time when he or she is a teen and making claims about us never doing any thing for him or her.... What a wise mommy I already am!!! hehe

Here is the update:

Yesterday I went and hung out with my momma and daddy for the day. My grandma and grandpa were there visiting too... I decided that since I wasn't having too many contractions I needed to go for a good walk! I dragged my momma and grandma down past the mailboxes (if you live in the highlands or know where my parents live you will know where I am talking about) to where the new houses are! NOTHING! Just when we get to the bottom of the driveway, wham... I finally got one... OK! So I decide to walk up and down the front and back driveways! I had a few medium contractions but nothing earth shattering. So I decide to pack it in and go have some home made soup for lunch! Which was sooo yummy by the way!!

Later that afternoon, Momma and I weeded my backyard. Something I have been wanting to do for weeks now! It looks so great!! The weeding brought on a few contractions but again nothing earth shattering. I decided to give my body a break and have a shower and then relax and finish my book, another thing I wanted to do before baby was here (the book, not the shower).

Gord called and said that the Jeep, my wonderful, best vehicle ever Jeep, was having a trans issue and he needed to take a look at it so he was stopping at his parents place on the way home... and would be late. Since he was at his parents place, and they had not had dinner yet either, we decided to go for dinner with them afterwards. Then we hit up Toys R Us to get baby's swing (maybe this was what Tubbins was waiting for) but they didn't have the one we registered for... so we went to Sears and found an equally nice one... however according to Gord it was unsatisfactory because it didn't have little "Dougys" on the mobile. ("Dougy" is in reference to Doug who Gord works with and they like to call a monkey... don't ask).

Anyways... on the way home I started to have a few contractions!! Yeah!

We set up the swing and I baked some cookies... more contractions... stronger... Double Yeah!

We got ready for bed and the contractions got stronger... so I stayed up a bit longer to see what they would do... I wouldn't go to bed.. because every time I seem to go to sleep they stop all together and I wasn't having that happen again!

By 1am they were officially the strongest contractions I had felt! Triple Yeah! I wasn't sure if I was ready to go to the hospital yet or not... my contractions seem to be scared of hospitals/Doctors so I wanted to make sure they were here to stay before I left. Gord told me to at least call the on-all doctor to let her know what was going on, so that's what I did. She said I could go in or I could stay home a bit longer as it would be more comfortable. I decided to stay home for a while longer until they got a bit more intense.

No more then 30 minutes later the contractions started to space out and weaken... I was in denial... so I kept walking... by 2:30am... I gave up and went to bed...

So here I sit this morning babyless and contractionless.... the Joys....

I know it's all worth it in the end... but I just can't wait to meet our little Tubbins!!!
Plus June 26th sounds like a great birth date for our little Tubbins...

Oy!

We are on day 7 of early labour!

Yesterday morning the contractions were coming on strong and steady... I had a doctors appointment at 2:45 and they started to slow down just as we were leaving the house to go... I'm still having contractions but they are not as strong and further apart....

Maybe baby Tubbins just isn't sure what birthday he or she wants....

If anyone has any ideas as to how to get this labour moving into the active phase please make a comment and let me know! I'll do anything!!!

Just can't wait!

We must have an impatient baby... because this little guy or gal has decided it wants out!

On Friday afternoon, I started having more frequent and very strong braxton hicks contractions. By about 6:30pm I was having real contractions, but I wasn't sure that is what they were. We went out for dinner and they were getting worse. Then we decided to rent a movie and head home to relax a bit, but when I got home (TMI WARNING) I lost my mucus plug. Gord figured that it would be best to call the BC nurses hot line to see if they though I was actually in early labour or not. I called and told the nurse what had happened, she talked to me for about a half hour and determined that I was in fact in early labour! WOW!

I went to bed around 11:30 that night and woke up with no more contractions the next morning. I had a few mild contractions through out the day but nothing like the night before!

On Sunday we had our dad's over for a fathers day breakfast, and I had a few contractions while everyone was here. We decided to set up the bassinet that afternoon and at about 3pm the contractions were getting stronger. I decided that since I was not 37 weeks yet, I should probably call the doctor on call and let them know what was happening.

Turns out it was my doctor on call that day, she decided that I should head into labour and delivery so they could check me and put an IV in to make sure I wasn't dehydrated, which can cause contractions. We got to the hospital at 3:45, and I was strapped up to a fetal monitor. The fetal monitor was kind of neat because it showed baby's activity and my contractions on a graph that was printed out so we could see what my contractions looked like. I was checked at 5pm and I was 1.5-2 cm dilated and 85-90% effaced. After I was checked my contractions got a lot stronger and closer together. I was checked again at 9:15pm and was 2-3 cm dilated and 100% effaced! They decided that since I wasn't progressing too rapidly they could send me home! Yeah!!

Yesterday (Monday) I went into work for an hour to finish up a few last minute things, I had some mild contractions through out the day but nothing major!

Today so far I have had a few pretty good contractions but it's only 9:45am so time will tell!

Baby Tubbins first photo shoot

The first time we saw baby Tubbins I was 17 weeks along... the tech and my doctor ended up changing my due date after this ultrasound because Tubbins was measuring 2-3 weeks ahead, making me 19-20 weeks!

The tech estimated my due date as July 21st, but if you ask me I think it’s somewhere between the 14th and the 19th! Time will tell!

Here are a few pictures of baby Tubbins from our first ultrasound!

Tubbins

When my belly started to grow Gord would jokingly and lovingly call me tubby! He and his brother called Tricia “Fat” or “Prego” through most of her pregnancy so I figured I was getting off easy with tubby!

One night Gord called the baby Tubbins because it was what was causing me to be so “Tubby”. It stuck, and now we all call the baby Tubbins! Hopefully when baby is older he or she isn’t emotionally scarred from being called Tubbins for 9 months of his or her life!

Telling the Parents

We told our parents a few weeks after we found out we were expecting. I couldn’t keep the secret and was bursting at the seams to tell everyone!

For my parents and sister (B), I emailed my mom asking if they would be up for making us all breakfast that Sunday so she could have all her kids over! But apparently I wasn’t as stealth as I though I was, because I guess it had crossed both her and B’s minds when I sent the email that maybe I was coming over to announce I was pregnant!

On the Saturday night before breakfast, we had our 2nd Annual US Thanksgiving Dinner with a group of our friends. My sister was there and over dessert we joked that I should announce I was pregnant at breakfast as a joke, since mom was expecting it. Little did B know I actually was!

Gord and I decided that since the baby was due on my dad’s Birthday, August 6, we would get him a birthday card from the baby saying “Happy Birthday Grandpa, I can’t wait to meet you on or near August 6, 2009”.

It actually took Gord and I quite a while to convince my parents that we really were pregnant and not just teasing them since B had been joking about it all week!

For Gord’s parents, we wrote up a Christmas list for his mom since she had been asking us for a list of things we wanted for Christmas for quite a while, but this list had all baby related items on it. When we got there on the night of Light up, I went into the computer room and printed off the list.

When I came out, I handed the list to Gord’s mom. She was so busy telling us that the list was too late and she had already got everything that she hardly noticed the items on the list even though she kept glancing down to read it. I’m pretty sure she looked at the list twice before she realized what was on it… then she looked up at us, looked down at the list and for the first time I think she was actually speechless!

Gord’s dad showed everyone who came to the light up that night the list as soon as they walked in the door!

P.S. This week was quite a wordy post but from now on I am planning on starting Wordless Wednesday! Starting next week, I will only post a picture or two on Wednesdays with out any captions, or explainations.

The Last 36 weeks

Our Adventure started about 36 weeks ago in Vegas! But we didn’t know about it until November 23rd!

On Friday (Nov 21) we had gone out for dinner to white spot, Gord ordered a burger and Yam Fries and I ordered the Pad Thai. As soon as my dish arrived the smell overtook me, there was no way I was going to be able to eat it! The only way I can describe the stench was that it smelled like a wet horse! I did choke back a few bites and it actually didn’t taste half as bad as it smelled. But I ended up picking off Gord’s plate anyways!

On Saturday, while at coffee with my friend and SIL Tricia, I told her about the Pad Thai incident. She was the only person who knew that Gord and I were trying and therefore got the privilege of listening to my endless symptoms. She convinced me to take a Pregnancy test, so I decided to test the next morning as soon as I woke up.

On Sunday Morning (Nov 23) Gord was out of the house, working on the Christmas Display at his parents house, while I was at home peeing on a stick! A magnificent stick that almost immediately revealed two lines!!! It was one of the happiest moments in my life! Only trouble was, Gord would be working on the Christmas display all day and I didn’t want to tell him over the phone… so I had to wait until he got home. Talk about torture.

When he did get home I had filled out the “Waiting for me” portion of the baby book with our expected due date and a note to “Daddy”, with the test. I let him find it himself when he walked in the house and all he said was “Honey, do you have something to tell me?”

Welcome!

Welcome to our Family Blog!

I have 2 weeks (7 days) left of work before I am officially off on Maternity leave! Over the next few weeks before baby is born, I am going to go back in time and blog about how we got here, and maybe even post some belly pictures!

Hopefully by the time I have blogged about these last 8 months, baby will decide to make its arrival and I can start blogging and sharing pictures of him or her!
